EVERY DAY MATTERS PROGRAM

The Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce Every Day Matters encourages excellence in attendance. At the beginning of the school year, Santa Fe Public Students (SFPS) students received an Every Day Matters flyer announcing the initiative that was provided by Chamber members El Castillo LifeCare/LifePlan Community and A’Viands, (Food Service Management). Names of (SFPS of students in grades K-12 who did not miss more than two days this school year were entered into a drawing for a prize. Three students from each grade receiveda gift valued at a minimum of $100 due to the outstanding donations received from Chamber members and local businesses. Student gifts were presented at May 16, 2017 SFPS Board of Education Meeting.

According to Simon Brackley, President of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber and local businesses recognize that chronic absences often lead to poor grades and lower skill levels, which can be detrimental to a student’s future. In thanking Kathy Jahner, Julia Furry and all the volunteers and businesses who supported this successful program, Brackley indicated the Every Day Matters initiative inspires better student attendance and brings students one step closer to achieving success after high school in whatever college or career path they choose. Future sponsorship of the Every Day Matters initiative is planned in conjunction with the Santa Fe Public Schools.
